I've been doing a lot of reflection since the birth of my new baby (aside from my canon) website. I had a back to back photo gurgitation recently and needed to really step back and evaluate dezinebyjen.

I just want to share what I'm up to, what should be expected of dezinebyjen, and the direction I'm taking or leaning more towards.

I think its time to take my craft/or lack of to the next level. I mean REALLY take it to the next level. I need to...

a) Design a logo for myself (Seriously as a former graphic designer this is quite depressing)
b) Polish up my weakness aka technical skills
c) Define my style and explore
d) Really nail down the fundamentals
e) Learn blog lingo (RSS feed, streaming, tagging, subscribing, umm and everything else) because as you see, I only have tagged 3 things on this blog and it was by accident because I don't know how to do it intentionally-I don't know what it does. Other than photoshop/illustrator and my RAW image editor software and action sets, I'm not very tech savvy and very much blogger virgin. To stay close to everyone I know I really need to break it down.

Another very important discovery. Shooting with DVP (Death Valley Pornstar) really opened my eyes. I have fallen in love with editorials. Yes they say weddings are where the money is and true photojournalist should be able to capture everything but I think the edginess of editorial is where I want to be. I can't tell the bride to get angry and stomp on the table bare feet. I can't tell the groom to grab the bride's face and lick it. I can't tell the couple to start wrestling eachother. I can't get the "Calvin Klein" ish ultra-mega smokey eyed shots from the little babies and cute little kids.

So its time to get ugly. Not that I won't be shooting weddings (please don't let this scare you) or cute little sessions but I think its time for me to start exploring the world of funk.

Not sure where I'm going to start but I think I might start with throwing some trash around maybe.
